Simon Flachsbart

Simon Flachsbart
Software engineer, business economist, and bridge builder between IT and management.

I know both worlds: that of developers who think in terms of technologies and programming languages – and that of managing directors who want to see results, costs and deadlines. I have worked in both for over 15 years, as a software engineer, consultant, manager and founder.

Today, I help companies make the right technical decisions—without having to become technicians themselves. I translate, mediate, and ensure that the end result is a solution that actually solves the problem. Not the most expensive, not the fanciest—the right one.

How I work

Clear, direct, solution-oriented.

Plain language instead of buzzwords

I don’t beat around the bush. If something doesn’t work, I say so – and at the same time I suggest how to improve it. No 80-page concept papers, just clear recommendations.

Partnership on equal terms

I work with my clients, not for them. That means I contribute my expertise, but you make the decisions. So that you are better positioned after our collaboration than you were before.

Results instead of theory

Whether it’s a prototype in 14 days or a clear digitalization strategy, I deliver tangible results. I validate ideas in the real market, not in an ivory tower.

Background

Why I speak both languages

My career has not been a linear progression at a desk. I started out as an electronics technician, studied software engineering, founded a start-up, managed teams, and completed an Executive MBA. Each of these stages has given me a different perspective – and that is exactly what defines my work today.

As a professor at Bern University of Applied Sciences, I teach AI and innovation management in the EMBA program. This forces me to present complex topics in a way that can be understood even without a technical background. That’s exactly what I do for my clients.

Personal

Behind the scenes.

In addition to consulting, I am a professor at Bern University of Applied Sciences and run Aorlinn, a limited liability company in Salvenach—in the heart of Seeland, where distances are short and conversations are direct. Incidentally, the name Aorlinn comes from Elvish and fits quite well: my goal is to make complex worlds understandable.
